Speech Language Therapist

Full Time, Permanent

Are you passionate about supporting students with complex communication, learning and behavioural needs? Do you want to work in a supportive team environment? Do you want the chance to make a real difference to the students and the families at our school? Then this opportunity could be for you.

As a Speech Language Therapist at Oaklynn Special School, you will join a dynamic and highly experienced team of Therapists, working with high and very high ORS funded students.

If you’d describe yourself as collaborative, emotionally resilient and enthusiastic then you’re probably who we’re looking for. The majority of our students have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and their needs can be unique, diverse and multi-faceted.

Our school is a vibrant, progressive environment with a focus on interprofessional collaborative practice. We believe that every student has the right to a voice and therefore our SLTs have a vested interest in the area of Augmentative and Alternative Communication. Oaklynn has an embedded coaching culture with strong social justice values, opportunities for professional development and offers its therapists the autonomy to develop and try out a range of therapeutic approaches.

If you want to join us, you'll need to:
● Be a qualified Speech Language Therapist
● Qualify for NZSTA membership
● Have a valid driver’s Licence

Experience working in special education is preferred, but we’re also keen to hear from new graduates, as we will be able to support working towards full registration with NZSTA. The position is covered by the NZEI Primary Teachers Agreement, meaning that salary will be dependent on the experience and qualifications you bring to the role.

Please send your CV through to Sarah Robertson, Therapy Team Leader at Oaklynn School. sarah.robertson@oaklynn.school.nz

Applications close on Friday 15th November.
