Outreach Service
Who We Are
Our Outreach Service is a team of specialist teachers who support students with ORS funding in our mainstream local schools. We currently have over 39 students enrolled in 18 different settings, ranging from new entrants to seniors at high school.
What We Do
As well as supporting the students we see, we work with the wider team around them e.g. teacher, teacher aide, whānau and any specialists or outside agencies involved.
How We Do It
We work in a range of ways which includes, but is not limited to:
assessing a student’s learning needs
collaborating with classroom teachers and other specialists around programmes
support with planning and monitoring
modelling strategies and approaches for school staff
differentiation of the curriculum
supporting transitions
contributing to a student’s Individual Education Plan
At Oaklynn we are committed to increasing our local schools’ capacity to support their learners with additional needs, not just those with ORS funding. We strive to be flexible and innovative - keeping up to date with the latest thinking and knowledge around specialist education. We love sharing that knowledge with schools, delivering professional development for teams that focus on our students’ strengths and relationship-based interventions.
