Te Piringa
The name Te Piringa has been gifted to Oaklynn by our local iwi Te Kawerau ā Maki as it means sanctuary. This is a special taonga for us as it reflects the environment we endeavour to provide for our rangatahi here at our base school.
Our programmes here are designed to foster co-regulation and provide rich sensory exploration experiences for all our ākonga. This focus is particularly crucial at Te Piringa where many of our ākonga have complex sensory needs. This purpose-built space incorporates a variety of features and resources specifically chosen to effectively meet the diverse sensory profiles of our ākonga. Access to this environment throughout the day is conducive to their individual learning and well-being as it enables us to support them in developing effective self-regulation strategies.
