Physiotherapy

Individual programmes

  • Assessing and evaluating the physical development and needs of students

  • Planning and providing physical programmes for individual students as required in a collaborative manner

 

Outside agencies

  • Assessment in collaboration with the wider medical and allied health teams. These can include Child Health Services from the Waitemata District Health Board, Auckland District Health Board, orthopaedic clinics, and paediatrician appointments

  • Supporting families to connect with community/medical-based agencies and appointments

Group programmes

  • Planning and providing physical programmes for students as part of a group in a collaborative manner

  • These programmes support development of skills such as balance, coordination, motor planning, strength building, endurance, participation and body awareness

 

Equipment

  • Ensuring equipment requirements of students are met (eg. wheelchairs, standing frames, walking aids, orthotics and specialised seating) and applying through Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education as appropriate

  • Assist and train class staff in the physical management of students and their equipment in the classroom environment
